When the season is long over and the warmer weather moves in, the Conval-Conant Griffins Boys’ Varsity Hockey Team is still hard at work in the community.
Over the past several months these young men have contributed many hours toward fundraising goals including projects such as volunteering for Monadnock Strong, participating in the Brandon Garabant 5K, monitoring trash at Children in the Arts, hosting a Community Ski Sale, and providing yard work and special projects for private citizens in need who have shown support for the hockey program.
Our next upcoming event is:
Children and the Arts https://www.childrenandthearts.org/ Saturday, May 20th, 2017
Every year, ConVal-Conant Girrifns players and parents provide on trash removal at the annual Children of the Arts festival in downtown Peterborough in May. The team is responsible for making sure all of the trash cans are emptied and that the streets and sidewalks are clean. Wearing bright orange Griffins shirts and carrying plenty of bags, the boys patrolled the parade route and kept the entire area clean.
Monadnock Strong Build Project
We were so proud of our team for their hard work with this project in June 2016! Our team had an all-day work day at the home of a local veteran in need of a heavy landscaping clean-up in order to make their home accessible. At the completion of the project, players were honored to present the homeowner with a check for over $200, earned from the sale of scrap metal the boys had salvaged on the property!
Brandon Garabant Memorial 5K
Our team participates annually in the Brandon Garabant 5K, a road race created in honor of our former goalie, Corporal Brandon Garabant. Each year we run to honor Brandon’s memory and remember his many contributions to our community.
Hope for Gus
The boys spent three hours cleaning up a homeowner’s yard, an auction purchase that supported the Hope for Gus Foundation. By working for free, the boys contributed directly to the bottom line of the foundation.
Conval Hockey players won’t be back on the ice until November, but the players are available to for projects that will raise money for the team, or they will volunteer for worthy projects. Project referrals are always welcome; please contact the Conval Hockey Boosters at firstname.lastname@example.org.
